Using Remote Desktop Connection
IMPORTANT - If you are trading on a remote server, and also have a version of Sierra Chart running on your local machine that is connected to the remote server, your keyboard combinations will be sent to your local machine and not to your remote server. When trading on a remote server, do not also simultaneously run Sierra Chart on your local machine that you have connected to your remote server.
When using an RDC connection to a remote server, the standard practice is to configure the RDC connection so that the Keyboard option under 'Local Resources' is set to 'On the remote computer'.
It is advised not to use standard Windows key combinations such as CTRL+C or CTRL+Z as bindings for your bots.
There have been occasions where this configuration does not work, and oddly, the setting, 'On this computer' works.
mRemoteNG as an Alternative to Remote Desktop Connection
You can also use mRemoteNG, which is a free and open source alternative,to Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection.
When configuring you may have to try both a configuration where 'Key Combinations' are set to Yes and to No to see if your keyboard works on your remote server.
- Update your programmable keyboard to the latest drivers.
- Reboot your server
- Change 'Apply Windows key combinations' to On this computer. \\ This will not likely fix the issue.
